ISLAMABAD (APP) – Saudi Arabia has assured its steadfast support to Pakistan on core national issues including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud who visited Pakistan on December 26 met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, where he underscored the importance Saudi Arabia attached to its fraternal and strategic relationship with Pakistan.
The two foreign ministers discussed the role of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the advancement of the cause of Kashmir.
Foreign Minister Qureshi thanked the Kingdom’s support in the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.
He conveyed the Saudi leadership’s deep appreciation for the role played by Pakistan in maintaining regional peace and stability.
Prince Faisal also reaffirmed the resolve to deepen bilateral collaboration in all fields, including trade, investments, energy and tourism sectors.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to maintain frequent high-level contacts and forge closer collaboration on bilateral matters and regional issues.
Following the meeting, the Saudi FM took to twitter and wrote: “I was pleased to meet my brother Pakistani FM today in Islamabad. We had a fruitful and productive discussion. We reiterated our strong ties and explored areas of mutual cooperation.”
The Saudi foreign minister also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and conveyed the most cordial greetings of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to the leadership and the people of Pakistan.
This was the maiden visit of the Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to Pakistan since assuming office and the two ministers earlier met in Riyadh.
The visit of the Saudi foreign minister to Pakistan is a reflection of the growing bilateral relations and part of regular exchange of high-level visits between the two fraternal countries.
